The Department of Tamil is equipped with a good collection of classics and modern library texts for reference and lending and the faculty consists of four PhDs and a good number of M.Phils, of whom several are actively engaged in research leading to Ph.D. These teachers of tested merit have taken upto themselves the noble mission of teaching the students, varied literature, Culture, history and criticism providing a modernist thrust to areas like sociology, anthropology, ethos and culture. Due impetus is given to popularizing the latest trends in the field of literature, to inspire the learners on the richness, variety and dignity of the hoary folklores and civilization. Comparative literature and Translation studies will be the highlighted area of this fore running language department.
